Jason Nuell, General Manager of Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, has been named by Marriott International as its 2012 GM of the Year. Jason was chosen for the prestigious award from among the general managers of the company's over 160 properties around the world.

The awarding of GM of the Year to Jason is made even more commendable when considering this is the Australian's first general manager posting, and that Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa has been in operation for only one year and nine months since its October 2010 opening.

Prior to taking the helm at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, Jason was Marriott International's Area Director of Operations in South East Asia looking after the overall operation of Rooms and Food and Beverage outlets of 30 properties in seven countries. Before this he was Director of Operations at JW Marriott Mumbai in 2005 and Director of Food & Beverage at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa in Australia in 2003, where he began his Marriott career.

In the time Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa has been welcoming guests to its idyllic location on beautiful Mai Khao Beach, Jason has quickly built a reputation for his passion and creativity. Yet he is quick to also attribute the luxury 180-room resort's entire staff team for the winning of the GM of the Year title, as well as the list of other awards also won.

From Marriott International itself the list includes 2012 Excellence Awards for Customer Satisfaction (the resort scored highest among 140 Marriott properties in Asia Pacific), Restaurant Food Quality, Restaurant Service Quality and Operations, and Best Arrival Experience Award. TUI Nordics presented the resort with Gold Awards in 2011 and 2012 for 'excellent performance generating the most satisfied customers' in the Thailand 5 Star Category, and TripAdvisor gave the resort a Certificate of Excellence Award 2012.

"I strongly believe the fantastic team we have at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa is the main key to our success. Each and every staff member places great importance on striving to provide our guests with a wonderful and fulfilling stay in which they can relax and enjoy Thailand's favourite beach resort destination" said Jason.

The 'No Name Tag' is among the creative initiatives Jason and his team have launched at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa. Much emphasis is being placed on this inspirational concept by all Renaissance associates who interact daily with resort guests. Guests and staff are connecting emotionally not with a name badge, thus adding more of a personal touch to a resort stay.
