The 12th August will see many sons & daughters make a special effort to show their appreciation towards the ones who brought them into the world, their Mothers.
12th August is the birthday of Queen Sirikit, considered as the beloved mother of all Thai people, is observed as a national public holiday and is considered as one of the most important festivities, when the nation immerses in celebrations. Thai people commemorate this day because of the Queen's benevolence towards the needy & poor, and she has captured the hearts of many Thai people through her devotion toward welfare and well- being of her people.
Mother's day celebrations started being celebrated in 1976, as part of a campaign by the then Prime Minister, Prem Tinsulanonda to promote Thailand's Royal family. |
