The Spanish artist continues his run in Phuket, with a large selection of his work being exhibited at Mom Tri’s VR Gallery in Kata Noi. In the last year his work was exhibited at the Phuket Art Festival, and the Think Design Gallery Space. We are proud to help expose his amazing work to Asian art lovers.

Gomez has been living in Los Angeles since 1988, a city that inspires him and drives him crazy, which may be the idea. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Universidad de La Laguna (Tenerife) and the Madrid University Complutense before heading out to La, La land, where he has become a well - known and celebrated artist, although he has not released his love of the underground, graffiti and protest. Some of his recent exhibitions include, "Cinema 15" AR4T Laguna Beach, California, "Street & Low" Robert Berman Gallery, Santa Monica. "World Music" The Latino Museum, Los Angeles, "3D Art" Opera Gallery in New York and "Tres" Stunt gallery, La Laguna. Spain. Each year, the list of galleries where his work is shown grows exponentially.

His other recent foray into Asia was his month-long appearance at "Totally Radical", the Art Beijing exhibition which took place in 2010 and inspired the artist greatly.

Mia Sevier wrote "Gomez Bueno is playful at heart. He appreciates irony, humour, and novelty and these themes run throughout his extensive body of work. While other artists often find and capitalize on one particular means of expression, Gomez Bueno values wit and innovation, seeking fresh expressions with each project.

Paintings of perfectly round enormous black stereo speakers, colourful portraits of love-loran classified ad placers, prestigious gallery logos in the fonts of famous rock bands, a surf shop, stickers of large assemblages of faces on actual cars, and a stint as a priest promising redemption are just a few of Gomez Bueno’s productions. He delights in new creations and experimentation, mixing elements together to create novel and unexpected combinations of popular culture and art, mischievously producing good natured creations that tease and amuse. Crossing genres and boundaries, his work cannot be easily categorized or labelled. Conceptual, pop, commercial, fine, cartoon, surf, skate, street, and classical, it is clearly creative. To understand it, it is best to view it."

As his exhibition kicks off in on the 18th of August, everyone is invited to come visit the gallery and see for yourselves what the fuss is all about.

VR Gallery is the successor to the mini gallery that existed at Mom Tri’s Boathouse for many years. The Boathouse gallery served as a venue for local and visiting artists. It is anticipated that the VR Gallery will continue this tradition of bringing visual enjoyment for all. Adjacent to Mom Tri's Villa Royale on the only road into Kata Noi.
