It's the time of year again when many of the habitants of Phuket don their white clothing and stick to a strict vegetarian diet, and Phuket Town becomes filled with smoke and the sound of firecrackers, and some of the braver residents pierce their bodies with various kinds of objects, walk on hot coals, and climb sword runged ladders. Yes it's the annual Vegetarian Festival that this year runs from the 5th until the 13th October 2013. Those staying in the tourist destinations along the west coast won't have a problem finding something meaty to eat. However, those staying in the main town might just have to hunt a little to find a dish that will actually contain meat during this period. But one thing is for sure; if you're in the town, or planning to come to town to see this spectacular event, do not forget your camera! This is a once in a lifetime event that you will sure want to have some kind of reminder of, and we're sure your friends back home will also want to visit after seeing your shots.
